I went to see a therapist. I also was having issues with depression. When I met with my therapist we talked about my childhood and why I think I was feeling the way I was. She also wanted to test me for ADHD. Turns out I actually have ADHD. To get meds for my ADHD I had to see a doctor. She explained to me that a lot of my anxiety could be coming from the fact that I have ADHD. I also got medicine for my depression. A lot of anti depressants help with anxiety.
You should just tell your mom that you want to see a therapist. Getting up the courage to see a therapist was the hardest thing I have done, but I learned a lot about myself in the process.
My therapist doesn’t prescribe the medication though, but my doctor and my therapist work in the same office so I go to the same place to get my prescriptions.
Antidepressants have helped me tremendously. I take Wellbutrin and Zoloft. I am way more social than I have ever been before.
